Vonage to start reselling municipal Wi-Fi

US based VoIP service provider Vonage Holdings Corp. has said that they would soon enter the municipal Wi-Fi market through a subsidiary company.

This subsidiary would resell broadband on EarthLink Inc.’s city wireless systems around the U.S.

They would be buying bandwidth in wholesale from EarthLink and would resell it under their own brand name. This service would be launched in all the cities where EarthLink offers a municipal Wi-Fi network.

EarthLink itself prices its own services at $20 per month and it operates in New Orleans, Philadelphia, and Anaheim and Milpitas, California. They are also working hard on expanding this service in other cities around the United States.

Subscribers to the Vonage service would be able to access this service anywhere outdoors in the cities. And Vonage would also be providing wireless modems and software tools to their users use the service at home.
