Nokia losing grip on its share in the Smartphone market
World’s largest mobile phone company Nokia is losing its grip in the smartphone market as they are seeing a dip in their market share.
However, the company said that the demand is continuously growing for such phones in the market and they expect to do well in the coming years.
The company sold as many as 40 million smartphones in 2006. This comes to around 44.5 percent of the 90-million-unit market.
Last year they had a market share of 61.5 percent with sales of just around 28.5 million smartphones.
The company’s communications director Kari Tuutti said in a statement: “What is important is that the market continues to expand very strongly. We are very satisfied with what happened in 2006.”
