YouTube.com continues to suffer in Brazil

Google owned video sharing service YouTube.com was recently ordered by a Brazilian court to remove a video clip related to supermodel Daniela Cicarelli.

Now, ISPs around the country are blocking the site in response to this judicial order.

Spanish-owned Telefonica SA said that they had to block access to this website after receiving the order. This is preventing users based in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro from viewing YouTube.

Brasil Telecom SA also confirmed that they are now blocking access to the Google owned video service.

Another ISP Empresa Brasileira de Telecomunicacoes SA has said that they are currently reviewing the order and might implement the ban to the website.

The court ruling said that the ISPs would be banning access to the site until YouTube.com can prove that they have a system in place to prevent re-uploading of the video clip in dispute.

The judge’s press office said in a statement that their ban was applicable on the video clip itself and not the whole web service.
