Intel launches three more Quad Core Processors

Microprocessor market giant Intel has launched more products as they aim to diminish the popularity of AMD in the higher end market segment.

The company has launched three quad-core chips at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show. With this the company is offering on sale as many as nine Quad Core processors in the market.

Intel said that two of these three new processors are targeted at the entry level server market. The third one is the Core 2 Quad Q6600 which they have designed for high-end gamers and powerful machine demanding customers.

Intel President and CEO Paul Otellini said in a statement on this new processor launch: “The performance once requiring a supercomputer is now on the desktop.”

The other two processors are quad-core Xeon 3200 processors which are aimed at the enterprise server market. These are available in 2.13 GHz and 2.4 GHz speeds at a cost of $690 and $851, respectively.

Market analysts believe that these new processors would perfectly compliment the recently launched Windows Vista operating system which runs better on powerful machines.
