Apple iTunes has now sold more than 2 billion songs
Apple Computer Inc. now known as Apple Inc. has now sold more than 2 billion songs through their digital music store Apple iTunes.
With this the company has become the fourth largest music retailer in the United States overtaking Amazon. Their next aim would be take the Target’s third spot.
Apple claims to be selling at a rate of 58 songs per second or 5 million songs a day. They now trail Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Target.
Steve Jobs said in a statement: “We couldn’t be happier with the growth rate of iTunes.”
He also announced the company’s new deal with Paramount Pictures. Apple iTunes would feature movies from their stable. With this, the store would have 250 movies available for downloading.
