Warner Bros. gets support for their Total HD format
Time Warner Inc. recently announced that they would release their movies in their own format named Total HD. This forum merges the next generation high definition format formats on a single disc making it compatible with both HD DVD and Blu-Ray players.
The company has now received support for this format from retailing giants Best Buy Co. Inc. and Circuit City Stores Inc. Even the online store Amazon has said that they would be selling these discs.
This could become a savior for the customers who are currently divided on the decision on which format player to buy. Incidentally LG has launched a hybrid DVD player which supports media in both the formats. It also supports traditional DVDs.
Warner Bros. is expected to launch their content on their Total HD format starting later this year. Kevin Tsujihara, president of Warner Bros. Entertainment spoke about this format: “It behooved us to figure out a way to transition (consumers) from standard definition to high definition DVDs. From our perspective we don’t care if it’s Blu-ray or HD-DVD. We just want the transition to occur.”
