Akimbo Systems to bring video from Yahoo! to their users
Akimbo Systems Inc. is a VOD (video on demand) service which uses the internet to get video content for their subscribers who watch them on their television sets.
The company is now talking with internet giants Yahoo! to bring their video content to their subscribers.
They aim to make it possible for their subscribers to browse a regularly updated selection of Yahoo’s popular videos. Then they can download and watch these videos on their television sets.
These videos from Yahoo! would include user-submitted clips selected by Yahoo editors and other popular clips from their network.
The two companies would remove any possible clips from this stream which might contain copyrighted information.
Akimbo already makes it possible for their subscribers to access more than 14,000 movies, TV shows and other video on demand. The service only costs around $9.99 per month. Their set top boxes sell for as little as $199.99 on Amazon.com.
