Samsung see positive things happening with the iPhone launch

Apple has just unveiled their upcoming mobile phone product Apple iPhone. Analysts said that this phone would pose a challenge to existing smartphone makers in the industry.

Samsung on the other hand believes that this would be good for the industry as the demand for higher end mobile phones would expand.

Kim Jeong-han, senior vice president for Samsung Electronics Co.’s telecommunications business said in a statement: “Since it’s new it could bring both sides, positive and negative.”

He further said that the phone would penetrate the high end of the mobile phone market and this could benefit their own higher end models in the market.

He said: “But still we have an opportunity. So we will continue to introduce a variety of specialized function phones in the multimedia area.”

The company would also gain from their flash memory business as the iPhone is likely to use the Samsung flash memory in this phone as they do with their iPod range of digital music and video players.
