Other World Computing launches ModBook starting at $2,279
Apple launched the iPhone at the recent MacWorld. But the company certainly has no plans to launch a Tablet PC based on the Mac platform.
However, interested consumers now have an option in the form of a device named ModBook introduced by Other World Computing.
The company showcased this “mod kit” this week at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco. This device is available at prices starting from $2,279.
The ModBook is essentially a classic slate-style tablet PC with a 13.3-inch LCD display. It takes input from a stylus and features an Intel Core 2 Duo processor (1.83 or 2-GHz). Customers can get it with as much as 2GB of DDR2 SDRAM memory, 200GB of hard drive space, a 8x DVD±RW and CD-RW slot-load combo drive, and an integrated iSight camera.
For early order bookers, the company is offering to include a GPS and knock $80 off that $2,279 price tag. They would start shipping these devices starting from April this year.
