AT&T might soon offer cheap broadband only packages to consumers
As part of their aim to expand their presence in the American ISP market, the telecom giant AT&T is likely to soon offer cheap broadband only connections.
Sources claim that these “naked” DSL connections could cost as little as $19.95 a month. Currently, the company sells these packages starting at around $45.
In addition, AT&T is also rumored to be working on developing a $10 DSL for new subscribers. These packages would be for customers who also buy AT&T-branded phone service.
These cheap packages would come as a result of the company’s promise to the Federal Communications Commission. AT&T had promised many similar offerings for the customer as part of their settlement for acquisition of BellSouth.
The terms of that agreement requires the company to offer naked DSL for $19.95 in markets that are at least 80% upgraded for broadband.
