Google and Yahoo! gains in search engine market in the USA

The US search engine market continues to be dominated by Google. The company improved its market share in the US by around 0.4 percent during December to touch 47.4 percent.

Yahoo! was the second most popular search engine in the market. They also showed some improvements in their market share.

Microsoft continues to lose market share despite launching a brand new search engine in the form of Live Search. Microsoft’s share in this segment slid 0.5 percent to 10.5 percent of U.S. Web searches.

Ask.com was another loser with a 5.4 percent share in the market. They lost around 0.1 percent share.

comScore Networks Inc. further said in their report that an estimated 6.7 billion searches were conducted by U.S. Web users in December. This was slightly up compared to the number of searches conducted in November.
