Antivirus for Mobiles
This news comes pretty much as a disappointment for me. If managing personal computers was not tough enough, now we have problems securing our mobiles. Security issues for mobile phones have become such a realistic problem that McAfee would be releasing their products integrated in mobiles in Japan from this month.
McAfee worked directly with the Japanese mobile carrier NTT DoCoMo on their 901i series of phones. These phones would carry customized software from McAfee to prevent risks from viruses.
Mobiles are becoming more and more susceptible to these issues with the new emerging technologies, which let them communicate with different appliances using various protocols. They are used to make calls, play games, surf the net and uses mostly wireless technologies, which makes them prone to cyber threats.
McAfee expects phone companies in USA and Europe to release similar products incorporating software to prevent security risks by next year. Looks like worse times are ahead. I do not really want to see my refrigerator demanding me to update the antivirus signature files in the coming years…
