China has more than 2 million teen Internet addicts

Internet addiction is increasingly becoming a problem for young kids in the developed countries. Now Chinese news agency has reported that the country has more than 2 million teen internet addicts.

The report claimed that out of the estimated 18.3 million teen Internet users, more than 2 million were addicts.

China Daily said in a news item: “Internet addicts in China are as many as 10 years younger than those in the West. They are more susceptible.”

The report quoted material from Gao Wenbin, a psychology researcher at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Gao claimed that as many as 15 percent of these net addicted teenagers in large cities needing “urgent help.”

He added: “They will naturally turn to the virtual world if they cannot find an outlet for their energy either at home or school.”

This report comes just as the videogaming company Blizzard reported that the Chinese market has as many as 3.5 million players in China addicted to their game World Of Warcraft.
