Copiepresse now targeting Yahoo! News Service
Belgium’s French-speaking newspapers represented by the editors group Copiepresse have already targeted Search Engine Company MSN and Google for publishing their news items on their search services.
They are now targeting the other big giant Yahoo! Bernard Magrez, lawyer for the editors group Copiepresse said in a statement: “We sent a letter of formal notice to Yahoo yesterday” so that it will stop publishing articles from Belgian newspapers on its search engine without prior authorization.”
They are claiming that the search engine company Yahoo! is violating copyright laws by giving Internet users access to archived newspaper articles on their search engine service.
These archived news material is otherwise available for a fee on these newspaper websites.
