Nissan: No plans to setup a manufacturing unit in India
Rumors were strong in the market that Nissan was considering entering into the Indian market with their own plant. Their partner Renault is already on their way to launch the Logan sedan in India.
However, a top executive at Nissan Motor has now said in a statement that they currently have no plans to setup a factory in India.
Company’s Chief Operating Officer Toshiyuki Shiga said in a statement on this rumor: “That’s not under consideration right now.”
The Nikkei had reported in a news item earlier this month that Nissan was to build a 200,000 unit-a-year car factory in India with an initial investment of 50 to 60 billion yen.
The market already has major presence from Japanese automakers including Suzuki, Honda and Toyota.
