Hewlett-Packard to open up a facility in Russia

US based tech giants Hewlett Packard has said that they are now going to establish a research and development facility in St. Petersburg, Russia.

This unit would employ dozens of researchers. These researchers would work on inventing ways to manage and mine digital data.

This upcoming center in Russia would be HP’s seventh R&D center around the world. It would be operated under the brand name of HP Labs.

The first HP Labs was founded more than 40 years ago and they have developed technologies related to pocket calculators, semiconductor devices, thermal ink jet printing and nanotechnology.

Hewlett Packard already has similar facilities in China, India, United Kingdom, Israel and Japan. This upcoming facility would be located inside their existing sales facility in St. Petersburg. Beth Keer, director of the company’s Information Services and Process Innovation Lab said in a statement: “It’s really important for us to be where our customers are, and where the scientific talent is.”
