MySpace.com files a lawsuit against Scott Richter for internet spam

Online social networking giant MySpace.com is more used to getting sued for various reasons. The company has now sued the self-proclaimed “Spam King” Scott Richter for internet spam.

MySpace.com claims that Richter filled the web based service with spam messages through the use of compromised user accounts.

The News Corp owned company said that they are seeking a permanent injunction to bar Scott Richter and his affiliates from using the popular social networking site.

Richter has been involved in legal cases against Microsoft and the state of New York over his business practices. He runs an e-mail marketing company Optinrealbig.com.

MySpace.com’s lawsuit claims that Richter and his associates sent millions of bulletins from different user accounts without their knowledge between July and December 2006. These spam messages were used to advertise products like ring tones and polo shirts.
