Nokia to build a WCDMA 3G/HSDPA network for US Army
World’s largest mobile phone maker Nokia has confirmed that they have signed on a contract with the US army. Nokia would be building a WCDMA 3G/HSDPA network for the US army.
The company is already a major player in this segment and provides HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) technology to 66 3G customers.
Now, the US army would look into the uses of this network for their own work.
Nokia said that they would install the network at an undisclosed Army Research and Development Center. The company claimed that this next generation Nokia MSC Server System would save the Army operating expenses of between 30 and 70 percent compared to legacy switching technologies.
