Dell Inc. opens up a global business center in Malaysia

Personal computer industry giant Dell has opened up its first global business center outside the United States. This center was opened up by company’s Chief Executive Officer Kevin Rollins in the Malaysia’s high-tech city of Cyberjaya.

This center would provide 24-hour engineering and technology support to its branches worldwide. The center is located on a 200,000 square foot area and would employ 600 people by year-end and 1,000 within five years.

The company said that this unit would mostly provide internal support to Dell offices in countries around the world. Rollins added: “Malaysia plays an integral part in our global initiative. We can think of no better partner than Malaysia to establish our first global business center outside the U.S.”

He was also awarded the Malaysian government title equivalent of the English “sir” on the occasion.

Dell further said that they picked up Malaysia over other countries (including India) because of its skilled work force, conducive business environment, robust infrastructure and the government’s commitment to the information technology industry.
