Intel adopts 802.11 draft N for wireless cards
Microprocessor giant Intel has announced a new improved wireless card which supports the IEEE 802.11 Draft-N standard.
The card also in addition supports the existing a, b, and g standards.
This network card would enable the users to share five times the data at twice the range provided by current generation of wireless cards.
With this the company has somewhat jumped ahead of the IEEE’s final adoption of the 802.11n standard. This standard adoption is expected to take place sometime this year.
In addition, Intel is also working on their ‘Santa Rosa’ codenamed product which improves the Centrino and Centrino Duo platforms by updating the processor, chipset, graphics and wireless card.
Dave Hofer, director of wireless marketing for Intel’s mobile platforms group said in a statement that they decided to launch this card to enable the users to make use of the next generation of mobile networks.
