Apple updates Xserve RAID enterprise storage product
Apple Inc has announced an updated Xserve RAID enterprise storage product which comes with capacities of up to 10.5TB.
Doug Brooks, product manager, Apple’s server & storage hardware group spoke about these updated products: “The customers that are using RAID are putting the product in their infrastructure for broadcast, design, video and education. We have lots of customers that are very heavy storage users.”
The company’s latest products now lower the cost per gigabyte of storage to $1.31. This low cost itself is helping Apple getting a lot of new customers.
Interestingly, these products fit in environments running multiple operating systems like Mac OS X, Windows, Linux, Solaris, NetWare and others.
Apple added that these products also support real-time, uncompressed, high-definition (HD) and multiple-stream (SD) video editing without dropping a frame. These products are available immediately on build to order options.
