China could soon overtake US in terms of internet users
China already is a major market for mobile service providers and the country is increasingly becoming an important destination for companies providing online services.
China also happens to be the second largest internet market in the world next only to the United States. China Internet Network Information Center has reported on their website that the country’s online population grew by 23.4 percent last year to 137 million people.
This comes to just around 10% of their total population thus providing enough space for existing players to expand their market in the country.
China Daily said in its report: “We believe it will take two years at most for China to overtake the United States.” They are quoting a statement by an official of the agency, Wang Enhai.
The country also has a healthy number of mobile internet users. As per estimates as many as 17 million people in the country access the net through their mobile devices.
