Ford Motor showcases Flexible Series Hybrid Edge platform
US based automaker Ford Motor has shown a new concept vehicle featuring an innovative plug-in hybrid system.
The car features the convenience of plugging in your car with a zero-emissions hydrogen fuel cell.
They call this system Flexible Series Hybrid Edge and it is their attempt to showcase technology which could result in the next generation of highly efficient, alternative automobiles.
The company claims that this platform would give them the ultimate in flexibility in researching advanced propulsion technology.
Gerhard Schmidt, Ford’s vice president of research and advanced engineering added: “We could take the fuel cell power system out and replace it with a downsized diesel, gasoline engine or any other powertrain connected to a small electric generator to make electricity like the fuel cell does now.”
