Google to test video ads featuring Sony BMG and Warner Music

Search engine giant Google has said that they would now expand the scope of their video advertising system. The company is teaming up with Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group for this expanded test.

Google said that they would now distribute advertising alongside videos from these music labels on their AdSense online ad system.

The company added in a statement: “Over the past few months, we have run tests to figure out how we work with our partners and advertisers to combine high quality video content with ads and then distribute them (over) the Google AdSense network.”

They had earlier conducted similar tests with Viacom’s MTV Networks.

These tests would be based on a billing system of a cost per thousand impressions (CPM) model. Google usually rely upon the pay-per-click billing model.

This advertising campaign would split the generated revenues into three parties. The owner of the content, the website publisher and the company itself. AdSense product manager Christian Oestlien added in a blog post: “Over the next few weeks we’ll be testing AdSense video distribution and sponsorship with a small group of publishers.”
