Google to focus on video search on Google Video service
Search engine giant Google has said that the Google Video service would now focus on searching videos rather than hosting them.
They would leave the video sharing facilities to YouTube.com which they acquired last year.
The company had somewhat admitted that they had failed with their Google Video service when they announced plans to acquire YouTube in November for 1.65 billion dollars worth of stock.
Google vice president Salar Kamangar said in a statement that the Google Video service would now concentrate on being a comprehensive index of video available for viewing online. It would also feature thumbnails of the searched videos from sites like YouTube.com.
He wrote on a company blog: “Google Video will become even more comprehensive as it evolves into a service where you can search for the world’s online video content, irrespective of where it may be hosted. YouTube, meanwhile, excels at being a leading content destination with a dynamic community of users who create, watch and share videos worldwide.”
