NEC develops technology to prevent spam phone calls on VoIP

NEC has said in a statement that they have developed a technology to block spam calls on VoIP connections used by users around the world.

They are going to demonstrate this new technology at the upcoming 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona.

However, NEC said that the technology requires much work before it could be made available in the retail market.

NEC said that their technology works by determining whether the caller is a human or a machine by testing the machine’s capability to perform human-like conversation.

Once the system confirms that the call has indeed been made by a machine, it blocks the call from disturbing the end user.

NEC said that they would work on getting the system compatible with different types of hardware, such as SIP servers, home network equipment and session border controls. They have not revealed any timeline of a possible commercial launch of this technology.
