Google combines Google Book Search with Google Maps
Search engine giant Google has said that they are now combining online books with its mapping software. Readers can now directly check out the locations mentioned in book text by visiting Google Maps service.
Google has enabled this feature by linking location references in the material available on Google Book Search to its interactive Google Maps software.
Google engineer David Petrou said in a statement that clicking on these links in the book’s text would connect readers to maps of the spots.
He said: “Why not visualize places mentioned in books on a map? Now you can. Fact, fiction, old and new, we seek to present maps when helpful across all kinds of books.”
He added: “We hope this feature helps you plan your next trip, research an area for academic purposes, or visualize the haunts of your favorite fictional characters. Above all, have fun.”
