Game on JFK’s Killing Blasted For Insensitivity
People find weird ways of raising controversies. And most of the time it is aimed to get cheap and free publicity from the media. Same concept has been used by the Scotland-based Traffic Games, which developed a game on John F Kennedy named JFK Reloaded.
The game reconstructs the scene of JFK’s assassination using the latest techniques available in the gaming industry. The company claims that they intend to promote the game with respect to the Kennedy family. But the game, which needs the player to recreate the three shots, fired at the then US president by Lee Harvey Oswald is not exactly getting good responses from the concerned families.
Senator Edward Kennedy described the game as ‘despicable’, but refused to comment on whether they plan to take any legal action against the game developers. The game company on the other hand finds the game educational! This story certainly will not die down quietly. Expect some heated debates and actions.
Hmm… I just gave them some more free publicity!

That’s just plain wrong.
Games like this are a bad thing, but this one is not alone.
Where was the outrage over a game to kill Saddam Hussein?

Notice the screenshots, pictures of Saddam and Bin Ladin together. Us Americans are a confused people.

So JFK isn’t fair game fodder? Others important politcal and social leaders (outside the US) have been brutally used in entertainment, whether it be in game, literature or video form. It isn’t in good taste, but it isn’t anything wholly new either.

The real question is can you make the 3 shots ?

Too soon? It’s only 40 years ago. Cry babies. Get over it and move on and think of the future. You grief junky cry babies. Stop giving the game the attention it probably doesn’t deserve.

What is the difference? Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden were enemies of the United States. John Kennedy was the President. Last I checked, we were allies of Scotland. This is not a game in which you shoot imaginary characters in dark alleys, this involves real people (including Texas Gov. Connely’s wife) who are still alive and presumably still in pain from the loss. Is there no dignity, humanity and honor in people any more? This is shameful. What’s next…a David Hinckley game?
