YouTube.com to start sharing revenues with users
Google owned video sharing website YouTube.com has announced a change in revenue model as the company now plans to share the earnings with the users who upload the videos on the service.
Chad Hurley, co-founder of YouTube said that they are currently considering on the proposal to allow users to be paid for content.
He said: “We are getting an audience large enough where we have an opportunity to support creativity, to foster creativity through sharing revenue with our users. So in the coming months we are going to be opening that up.”
However, he did not reveal the details on how this method would be implemented on the web service.
Revver is a competing video sharing service which already shares revenues with the users who provide them the hosted content. With YouTube.com also providing this kind of a revenue sharing service… it would be harder for other companies to compete.
