Bill Gates: Internet would revolutionize television world

Some years back Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates has said that the world would see an end to Email Spam by the year 2006.

That never happened. Now, Gates has made another prediction this time related to the internet and the television industry.

He said that the internet is going to revolutionize television within five years. This is possible with the already exploding availability of online video content and the merging of PCs and TV sets.

Bill Gates said at the World Economic Forum: “I’m stunned how people aren’t seeing that with TV, in five years from now, people will laugh at what we’ve had.”

Gates added: “Certain things like elections or the Olympics really point out how TV is terrible. You have to wait for the guy to talk about the thing you care about or you miss the event and want to go back and see it. Internet presentation of these things is vastly superior.”

Interestingly, Microsoft is considering launching IPTV service on their Xbox 360 gaming machine and Apple is due to launch their Apple TV device next month.
