Verizon Wireless rejected the Apple iPhone deal 2 years ago

Earlier this month, Apple Inc. showcased their Apple iPhone mobile phone product which they aim to launch in the market by June this year.

The Apple iPhone would be exclusively made available through Cingular in the US market.

The latest information in is that the other major mobile service provider Verizon Wireless has confirmed that they had rejected the deal with Apple around two years ago.

The company said that they refused a deal considering the demands made by Apple were not acceptable. Jim Gerace, a Verizon Wireless vice president said: “We said no. We have nothing bad to say about the Apple iPhone. We just couldn’t reach a deal that was mutually beneficial.”

Apparently, the iPod maker wanted a percentage of the monthly cellphone fees and a say over how and where iPhones could be sold.

In addition, Apple also wanted the control of the relationship with iPhone customers.
