Motorola would be using 3G chips from Texas Instruments

World’s second largest mobile phone maker Motorola has said in a statement that they would now start using 3G chips from Texas Instruments.

They would be developing advanced mobile phones using these chips manufactured by the world’s largest maker of mobile phone processors.

These chips would now power the next generation of third-generation (3G) high-speed wireless handsets from the company.

Motorola plans to make available these phones in the retail market starting next year.

Stifel Nicolaus analyst Cody Acree spoke about this collaboration between Motorola and TI: “We view this announcement as highly significant given (Motorola’s) size, market share momentum and potential TI dollar content per phone.”

In other news, Motorola also added that TI would also be supplying them chips for handsets based on WiMAX.
