Kim Ha-Na spammer arrested in South Korea
South Korean police department has confirmed that they have arrested a citizen of the country who is blamed for sending several trillion spam e-mails in recent years.
The arrested individual is a 1-year-old computer science major and is identified by his family name Park. The police have detained him for charges related to hacking into hundreds of computer systems and collecting data illegally.
Lee Young-Sil, a detective handling the case spoke about this arrest: “He was the creator of the notorious software responsible for several trillion spam e-mails under a female nickname ‘Kim Ha-Na’ since 2003.”
The media calls him the “Spam Queen” because of his “Kim Ha-Na” spam messages sent to web users in the country.
Reports say that the arrested man would face up to three years in prison or 30 million won in fines if the court finds him guilty.
