Quanta Computer shipped record 2M notebooks in January

Quanta Computer is the world’s largest contract maker of notebook computers by shipments. The company managed to ship more than 2 million units of their notebooks in the month of January.

Company President Michael Wang said that it was the first time in their 19-year history that its notebook shipments exceeded 2 million units for one month.

This goes on to show how notebooks are interestingly becoming more popular around the world. Quanta further said that their unconsolidated revenue in January rose more than 50 percent from a year earlier to 50.27 billion New Taiwan dollars.

Quanta is gaining from increasing demand in the market due to the recent launch of Microsoft’s Vista operating system.

Wang said: “We expect the strong growth momentum to continue in the rest of the year.”
