Bajaj Auto to convert all bikes to DTSi technology
Indian two wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto has said that they are planning to introduce an all-new motorcycle platform to move all their products to their DTSi technology.
A company statement said that they have also now finalized the product design and specification. They aim to start mass scale production of the new products by the first quarter of the next financial year.
Bajaj Auto already manufactures Pulsar (150cc, 180cc, and 220cc), 125cc Discover, Avenger and the Krystal scooter on the DTSi platform.
Bajaj said that they hope to stabilize ‘if not improve’ its profitability in the year FY08 with this move.
The company has already announced their plans to exit the 100cc segment which has low margins. This segment is primarily dominated by market leaders Hero Honda in the Indian market.
Bajaj further added that the commencement of motorcycle production at its new plant at Pantnagar in Uttaranchal is scheduled for 9 April 2007.
