eBay USA targeting growth in auto sales
Internet’s retailing giant eBay has rolled out a service for U.S. auto dealers with the aim to drive a tenfold increase in the inventory of cars available for purchase on its Web site.
The online giant is also trying out a brand new interface for its auto shopping Web site. The aim is to make it easier for the consumer to find a broader range of information on used cars.
eBay is also now allowing car dealers to upload listings of all of the used cars on their lots for a $1,000 per month subscription fee. They would be charging a fee of USD 50 on each sale.
These listings show up on the eBay website for a fixed price. Rob Chesney, senior director of eBay Motors said in a statement that these new initiatives would help them take eBay’s online auto listings into “the hundreds of thousands of cars” from “tens of thousands” now.
