Kodak challenging rivals by offering inkjet printers with cheaper ink

Eastman Kodak is going to challenge the rivals in the market by offering the customers something that is rarely seen nowadays, an inkjet printer with cheaper ink!

The company aims to boost the sales of their Kodak paper through this new offering.

Kodak plans to sell ink for about USD 25 when the printers hit stores in March. Competing product’s ink costs around USD 60-USD 80.

Kodak marketing director Bob Ohlweiler spoke about this new development: “Consumers aren’t printing as much as they could, because home printing is so expensive, and the quality isn’t as good as the lab. We have the technology to solve these issues.”

Market researchers claim that most printer makers tend to rely on sales of ink for their profits. Manufacturers can make as much as 75% profit on the sale of ink cartridges.

However, if Kodak manages to lure enough users to their products, we can have a price war in this field of inkjets which would be great news for the consumer.
