Telmex launches Prodigy Media for delivering television on the internet
Mexican phone company Telmex has launched a new platform named Prodigy Media. It enables the company to deliver television via the Internet.
The service is being offered for free at the moment though they believe it would generate revenues in later stages.
Telmex is offering four live channels and the ability to download videos and films.
These offerings include Fox News, TV UNAM and other channels dedicated to cultural programs.
The government rules in the country means that the company would have to wait until mid-2007 before offering pay TV to its range of services.
Ana Godinez, Telmex’s director of the Prodigy Media project spoke about this service: “We can do anything. It is a question of negotiations and having the content rights.”
