Helio launches a digital music store
Helio has launched a digital music download service for their mobile customers. The service is custom-built for the high-speed 3G network.
It features a library of thousands of songs from major record labels. They are making available songs from labels including Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, and EMI Music.
The company targets affluent young people with their mobile services and this new store is aimed to satisfy their music requirements.
Helio has recently said that they are targeting to achieve a subscriber base of 100,000 users early in the second quarter.
The company said that this music download service is available on their premium multimedia device, called the Drift. This facility would be extended to other devices in the coming months.
They are also offering a software utility for syncing a PC to its phones. Purchasing a song on the mobile device would cost the user $1.99 per song. User would be required to pay 99 cent per song for use on a personal computer.
