Apple iPhone powered with chips from ARM Holdings
Warren East, president and chief executive officer of ARM Holdings has said in a statement that the Apple iPhone contains at least three of their processor cores.
ARM is based in Cambridge, England and they are primarily a developer of processor and related intellectual property.
Reports claim that the main CPU for the iPhone is a PXA320 which is being supplied by Marvell Technology Group Ltd.
East said in his statement on the Apple iPhone: “ARM is in 90 percent of the world’s [mobile phone] handsets; we’re in Wi-Fi, baseband processors and applications processors and most of the world’s MP3 players. So it’s at least three.”
He further said: “Apple will talk about the contents of the iPhone when Apple’s ready to talk about the contents of the iPhone.”
