Hyundai Santro Diesel coming to India in 2008
Hyundai is already due to launch a diesel model of their Getz car later this year. The company has now said that they are going to launch a diesel Santro variant sometime next year.
Diesel Getz would take on the recently launched Diesel Swift from Maruti Suzuki. And with the launch of the diesel Santro, Hyundai would get a rival to challenge the domination of Tata Indica diesel in the Indian market.
Hyundai’s new Santro is also likely to comply the compact car norms with length not more than 4000 mm and engine capacity to be around 1200 cc for petrol cars and 1400 cc for diesel cars.
Heung Soo Lheem, MD and CEO, HMIL said in a statement on their plans: “Keeping in mind the comfort requirements of the Indian consumer, HMILs twin Santro will be slightly bigger than the existing Santro but will have an edge over other compact cars from the Hyundai stable in terms of availability in both diesel and petrol version as against the current petrol driven Santro.”
