Nokia gaining sales in Chinese market

Chinese state media reports claim that world’s leading mobile phone maker Nokia has successfully managed to tap the nation’s huge rural market.

This helped Nokia gain massive sales in the Chinese market as their sales jump 39 percent to 5.3 billion Euros in 2006.

The company managed to sell around 51 million mobile phones in the market. This is an improvement of around 57% compared to previous year figures.

Nokia concentrated on rural markets in the country as the major cities have almost reached a saturation point. The new markets are full of potential customers looking to purchase their first mobile handset and Nokia is providing them with excellent options from a range of low cost products.

The company also gained from expanded presence of nation’s mobile service providers including China Mobile and China Unicom.
