Japan now has more than 100 million mobile subscriptions
A Japan based telecommunications association has claimed that the total number of mobile telephone subscriptions in Japan topped 100 million for the first time in January.
Japan’s Telecommunications Carriers Association claimed in a statement that the subscriptions rose to 100.22 million as of Jan. 31.
This figure includes data for mobile phone contracts with subscriptions to personal handyphone systems.
This figure however still represents just around 78 percent of Japan’s population of 127.8 million. However, Japanese users are known to carry more than one mobile phone/device.
The country still has not reached a situation where the number of connections is more than the population of the country! Some countries in this list include: Turks & Caicos Islands, Aruba, Luxembourg, Lithuania, Cayman Islands, Netherlands Antilles, Grenada, Israel, Italy, Cyprus, Macau, Bahrain, Greece, and Czech Republic.
