Google Gmail nearing public beta testing phase
Google has made its Gmail webmail service more widely available. The company has now removed the invitation-only restrictions on its Gmail service in several regions including European countries, Middle East, Africa and Brazil.
The service has been already open to all in several other parts of the world, including Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and Egypt since quite some time.
Google said in a statement that the restrictions would be removed in other markets pretty soon.
However, the Google Gmail service is likely to retain the beta testing label for the time being.
Google Gmail was launched nearly three years ago and made a splash with 1000 Megs of mail storage space offering. A lot has changed since then. Both Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail are undergoing heavy rework and Gmail’s storage space has touched an impressive 2.6 gigabytes.
