Advanced Micro Devices makes available Mobile Graphics Technology for licensing

Microprocessor maker Advanced Micro Devices has made available their graphics technology available for licensing by mobile device makers.

The company has also now announced their plans to develop their own graphics technology for mobile applications.

AMD believes that this would help them tap growing demand for mobile devices and mobile applications which require high end graphic capabilities.

STMicroelectronics is the first company to have already licensed this technology from AMD. They have licensed graphics cores for 2D and 3D graphics, as well as related software. They are planning to combine this with their family of Nomadik multimedia application processors.
