HP introduces iPAQ 500 Voice Messenger
US based tech giant Hewlett Packard has now showcased their latest iPAQ model. The company displayed the HP iPAQ 500 Voice Messenger at the ongoing 3GSM conference in Barcelona.
This new model features VoIP capabilities, push e-mail, and the latest Windows Mobile 6 operating system.
The company is hoping that this new model would lure the growing corporate sector which wants these functionalities. The market is currently dominated by RIM’s BlackBerry phones.
Market research has shown that HP is a minor player in the smartphone market and they seem to increase their focus in this sector now.
This new model looks contemporary and is slim. It should be able take on the Palms and Blackberrys now.
The company said that this updated model lets users view e-mails in their original HTML format and edit Office documents.
However Mike Disabato, a wireless analyst at The Burton Group claimed in a statement: “There’s not much difference between Palm’s latest Treos and this new HP model. They are both running Windows Mobile. Which do you want to use, HP or Palm?”
