Lionsgate movies coming to Apple iTunes
Lionsgate Entertainment Corp. and Apple Inc. are entering into a partnership. The deal would see them now offer Lionsgate’s movies for purchase and download from Apple’s iTunes music store.
With this, some major hits including Terminator 2, LA Story, Basic Instinct, The Blair Witch Project, Saw and Dirty Dancing would now be available for download on the popular online video store.
Lionsgate plans to offer as many as 150 movies for downloads on Apple iTunes. Apple already has a database of some 400 movie titles available for download on Apple iTunes.
Steve Beeks, president of Lionsgate spoke about this deal: “iTunes lets users download these wonderful films to watch on their computer, TV or iPod, so movie fans can take their favorite Lionsgate films with them anywhere.”
The movies purchased and downloaded from Apple iTunes are viewable only on a computer, Apple TV or fifth generation iPod. The movies are generally priced at a fixed $9.99 each.
