YouTube criticized for its anti-piracy software policy
The media industry is claiming that YouTube.com has a flawed anti-piracy policy as it favors companies that have distribution deals with them.
The Google owned video sharing service is planning to introduce technology to help media companies identify pirated videos uploaded by users.
The experts claim that they are currently offering these tools as part of their broader negotiations on licensing deals with their partners.
YouTube.com rival MySpace on the other hand aims to offer its own version of copyright protection services for free.
YouTube has responded in a statement saying that the process of identifying copyrighted material is not an automated process and required the cooperation of media company partners. YouTube added: “These matters are very complicated and we are working with our partners to identify and solve these problems.”
