Fake Windows XP users get Microsoft Offer
Windows Operating Systems must be some of the most pirated applications in the world. And the sad thing is that some computer dealers sell pirated versions packaged to look as originals to unsuspecting buyers. Thus, they end up not only in compromising the customers legally but also technically. Users would find their computers installed with inferior software leading to potential monetary losses due to security glitches.
Now Microsoft is coming to the rescue. At least for the customers in the UK. It is a pilot project and Microsoft would be offering replacement for fake copies of Windows XP with genuine copies. But users would have to provide some sort of a proof and fulfill some conditions that they purchased it thinking it to be genuine.
The test program would be applicable for users in UK who purchased Windows XP preinstalled on a new computer before November 1. These customers can apply for the scheme by the end of the year. Microsoft is not expanding this scheme in other markets considering the level of piracy in those countries. But it is a start and Microsoft plans to get to the source of the problem with these efforts.
