Jyve social networking combined with searching online
Jyve is the latest of the online searching services which claims that it enables users to help each other out with their questions.
The project started off as a plug-in for the popular voice application Skype. They describes their new service as an “ask engine,” where user searches provide a live chat, instant message or phone call from a person with expertise in the search topic.
The company added that users on this service can get answers to questions related to various topics.
As soon as a user enters a question in the service, notices are sent to the desktops of other logged-in members who have identified the topic as one in which they are knowledgeable.
Users can then chat online on these topics using IM or phone calls. New users can also checkout the profile of the person responding before interacting privately. Charles Carleton, co-founder of Jyve said in a statement on their new service: “Jyve literally brings the knowledge stored in people’s minds worldwide online. We’re seeing all sorts of specialized search engines being introduced, but real people still know lots of things that aren’t easily found on the Web.”
